Personal Magical Journal

I've begun a new blog about my personal magical practice, theories, and experiences here. It'll probably get abstract and esoteric at times but that's me, I suppose. If you have the time, drop by and let me know what you think.

The Ends of the World

There's someone I want you to meet.

Listen, can't you hear it?

If your soul has not truly given up... you should be able to hear the sound... resounding across the Ends of the World.

Angel

Sometimes it takes a strict regiment of meditation, banishing, induced trance, combined use of sigils, the alphabet of desire, divination, and astral travel to find what you are looking for.

Automatic drawing. White robes, indigo robes, blue and gold robes. A crystal ball. Two rings. A magical dagger. An energy-storage entity.

A battery of tests, many candidates who would seem to be the one, but aren't. Dissolving in the light of the sacred letter, fragmenting like so many astral bubbles. Rising upward, like a balloon, hitting the ceiling, memories, dreams of the future. Sinking, down in an elevator with a glass door, down spiral staircases, into the place of a hundred caskets, where a hundred duelists find their final resting place.

But sometimes, it only takes one glance. When your eyes finally meet. Hesitating. Afraid to speak out, afraid it's not really her. Call the sacred letter over and over again, but she isn't driven away. It's on her back. It's a wing. It's a print on her apron. Speaking her true name, even though you already know the name she's always been known by.

One glance. When you realize you've never looked each other in the eye before, not really, not until now, not until you've finally fulfilled your promise to find her, across the stars, across the planes themselves. When you look into her eyes and your heart skips a beat, when she looks up at you and smiles...

One glance.

My angel.

The Nature of the Struggle

Man was a creature meant for honorable combat.

In ancient times, this was against beasts or other men for the survival of their families, their tribe, their people.

However modern times have made a full expression of combat; a global war, remote. But still humans are meant to fight.

Now, the focus is on the invididual rather then the nation. One man, one woman has value. One perception has credibility. The focus of combat is no longer destruction but rather, the evolution of the human species.

What is the enemy? The enemy is anything that holds a person back from achieving his full potential. This can be the demons in one's soul, or the injustices caused by other people.

The biggest deception one can have about the struggle, and one perpetrated by even those with "good" intentions is that it is a simple struggle.

Far from it. The Struggle is complex, just as life is complex. It is a sin to simplify one's life to a few simple principles, for that lies the way of stagnation and decay.

Every action, reason, opinion has a point which is true and valid in it's utterer's mind. It is impossible to resolve conflicts of opinion absolutely all the time... at least without trying to force an idea down the person's throat... at which he or she learns nothing.

This struggle is no less grave then wars that humanity has fought over the centuries, for the destiny of your soul is of supreme importance to you. What you have to do, and learn is valueable not just to yourself but to the generations that will follow.

Thus I have likened it to combat; for all the beauty, honor, danger and seriousness of this struggle. It is a battle we must win, though victory is never final. Our very lives are at stake.

However, the only way to truly lose this battle is to give up.

As long as the Spirit is strong within... there is always hope.
